NEC 2013 Report, NEC 2012 Report, NEC 2010 Report, NEC 2009 Report,
We entered Hall 5 at 10am on Thursday morning, we laid our nice red carpet which was bigger than last year with Peter’s Chevette, Lou, Chalkie, Cousin It & Commy all
proudly sitting on it.
We had an excellent stand position this year in the main hall next to the auto jumble (members spending too much money, Richard needed to be chained to our club
stand).
Usually Friday is the quieter day of the 3 but this year we had lots of press coverage, they chose all our club stand cars to cover in their own way from Peters rare
Chevette to Simon’s stunning Commodore, The Commodore had 4 classic car magazines from Classics Monthly to Classic and Sports Car all wanting to feature it in their
magazines.
A lot of the press guys couldn’t believe that the Cavalier Mk2 was 30 years old now, so that certainly attracted their attention, all our whole club stand will be featured in
Classic Car Buyer which is due out on Wednesday 16 November.
Saturday was extremely busy with lots of interest in the cars with people taking a trip down memory lane.
On both Friday and Sunday, the two-minute silence was honoured with everyone within the N.E.C standing still and paying their respect to those who will never be
forgotten.
Some club members took up the opportunity to have a ride in the Dream Rides section of the N.E.C where all money taken goes to charity the company are called Sporting
Bears and last year raised over 35,000 pounds for their charity, this year some members went in cars ranging from an Austin 7 to a Vauxhall Monaro, some club members
are even thinking of maybe donating some of our club cars for this very worthy cause.
As usual the cars are the stars with every single car getting remembered with fondness and the usual comments of “I had one of them”.
All our club main sponsors have renewed so a special thank you must go to our club chairman Vince Poole for making this happen.
In attendance was:
Peter & David Norrish, Vince Poole, Kevin Bricknall, Richard & Beth Watt, Simon & Matt Downs & Friend, Malcolm & Julie Docherty, Paul Ellson, Phillip Scaiffe and Dad,
Jonathon Powesland and Dad & Bryan Wilcox’s friend Bob.
We also managed to get one club member to renewal, and signed one new club member with a rather rare 2 door Chevette & also two potential new members.
Special thanks must go to David Norrish who always attends and travels all the way from Scotland to lend his support for this event.
The days were long and tiring but totally enjoyable, looking forward to next year
Report done by tired but happy club members.
